On Harry's invisibilty cloak, Wizard People, Dear Reader

So I'm so pumped for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! XD I really do feel for JKR, though - she's going to get lynched if she doesn't deliver, eh?

In any case, I thought I'd post my thoughts and predictions for the seventh volume, to look over to see if I'd pass divination afterwards. :3

I firmly hope that Harry will live, but I think he's only got a 50/50 chance. I've read so many arguments for and against, and I really don't know.

I believe that Ron will be among those who die. Why? That chess scene in the first book - I read this really fascinating argument (link here: http://www.knight2king.net/Knight2King/7moves7years.html ) that the chess game forshadows all of the events that follow. I mean, we already know that JKR is wonderful with throwing in little tidbits of what's to come (I mean, she mentioned Sirius black in the very first chapter, and didn't come back to him until the third book! Plus, there's the whole set up for parseltongue, etc...) So, Ron sacrifices himself so Harry can continue to go confront the bad guy in the symbolic chess game... Hmm... Frying pan of foreshadowing! >:3

I also hope that Draco Malfoy will turn "good". I mean, he's now failed to kill Dumbledore - so he's not exactly in anyone's good books. Plus, he's seen Snape, his pseudo-mentor (I say that because obviously his mother knows him enough to trust him with her sons' life, plus Snape favours Malfoy even above and beyond his other Slytherins) kill someone in cold blood right in front of him. Perhaps he'll have second thoughts as to what side is "good"?

Also, I believe in Snape. Dumbledore totally asked Snape to kill him. :D That, or Snape's playing both sides, and will side with "the light" at the end, because c'mon, the good guys have to win! (Although that would certainly be an interesting twist, to just have Voldemort WIN in the end...)

I figure that Pettigrew's blood debt to Harry (set up way back in the third book) has got to play some sort of role. Perhaps he'll be in "deep cover" for Harry? Betray his lord at the last moment for the son of his (ex)best friend?

I'm so excited for the book release! XD I work (at Superstore) an early morning shift the day before the release. Last time, when the Half Blood Prince came out, we recieved a whole pallet of copies in the morning, and had them locked up and guarded by a really old greeter. My friend and I got to reach through the bars and touch them (not read, just touch); a sort of religious moment. ;) I hope I get to do it again this year!

You know, it's got to be fun to be the employees of all of the bookstores right now - organizing all of these parties. I hope there aren't riots or anything.

In any case, I'm going to the midnight release at the West Edmonton Mall Chapters. I'll bring my camera, and I'll be sure to post pictures!

After I finish reading, of course. :3

"The reddish mound of earth that covered Dobby lay ahead..." I like paying attention to the colour symbolism in this book - red, and gold, are associated with Gryffindors, are they not? Also, it's the colour of blood - and Draco's face was covered by it, the last I saw. :3

Also, who else fears for Hagrid? I mean, when I saw the chapter title, "Fallen Warrior" right after Hagrid PLUNGED from the SKY, I was really scared. :( Nice guys shouldn't die! Is it bad that I feel releived that it was only Mad-eye that died, not Hagrid? Then, anyway? In addition, having Umbridge use Mad-eye's eye to spy on people? Ew. Disturbing, using people's body parts like that.

Man, though, all of this talk of Muggle-born registeries and the begging "Wandless"... creepy and sad at the same time. There are parallells, delibrate, I expect, to be drawn between these and the whole Jewish persecution in Germany in the lead up to wWII.

Also, I didn't think it was possible to hate Umbridge any more than I do already. Apparently I was wrong. D:

Dude, so the next chapter I'm to read is entitled "the Sacking of Severus Snape". Now that looks promising! :D I trust Snape!

(plus, really, you can't go wrong with alliteration!)

Dude, so it seems that the siege/sack of Hogwarts we've read about so many times in fanfiction has arrived! XD Man, I love McGonagall, even if I can never spell her name correctly. :3 I'm so excited! They're fighting back! XD

"We shall secure the school against He Who Must Not Be Named while you search for this - this object."
"Is that possible?"
"I think so," said Professor McGonagal drily, "we teachers are rather good at magic, you know."

<3 Love. :)

Okay, wow, you know what? Mothers kick ass. XD Lily, for just being that awesome; Narcissa, for trading loyalty to Voldemort/her ingrained pure blood values for her son's life (and d'awww, saving Harry at the same time), and Mrs.Weasley duking it out with Bellatrix. XD She's just so full of awesome! Knitters rule!

Okay, you know, why does the Dark Lord persist in using Avada Kedavra against Harry? I mean, he's survived it before, and he's survived it again. Just buy a gun already, eh? :P

All right, so I've just finished reading everything but the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! :) I just wanted to get my thoughts down right now.

Not as many people died as I thought there would be! Tonks and Remus were saddening - I mean, the only purpose of their death was to add to the bodycount, wasn't it? I'm happy that Neville, Hagrid, Mrs.Weasley and the entire Golden Trio survived, though. ^_^

AND HARRY LIVES!!!! XD I'm just ecstatic about that!

Also, House Elves kicking ass in battle, with Kreacher at the lead? Will wonders never cease! :)

I'm also very amused that the three Malfoys are kind of huddled in the Great Hall, not sure if they should be there or not. D'awww...

Once again, I'm happy that Harry survived. It was beautiful, though, how the only reason he survived was because he didn't fear death and sort of pulled a Lily - protecting everyone through his sacrifice. :) Although, I'm sure that those people who enjoy suicidal!Harry fics will have throuble encorperating all of this into effect. :P

Anyway, will post again after the epilogue!

So now I've read the epilogue, and I'm kind of like "Hmm..." I'm not sure I like the epilogue. But maybe that's because I'm a slasher. Harry belongs either with Draco or with Ron. :P But I suppose Ginny's fine as well. It seems a little cheesy to have them all just get married and have kids named after dead people ... although it does give the series a "full circle" feeling.

But overall, I still enjoyed the book! And now I shall wear black the next few days, in mourning for the characters who died and for the fact that the series is "over". :P

But man, I'm not sure I want to see a movie version of this - it wouldn't be able to fit in all of the neccessary exposition... Plus, many of the scenes were so clear in my head. It wouldn't have the same "squee" factor.

But my dearest J.K. Rowling! You're free! :D
