CONGRATULATIONS THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!

[Error: French translation broken, and broken Spanish is a poor alternative]

I'm so happy to hear that! I expect pictures and random French history and I'm completely jealous I want to go to the Lourve (don't judge my French spelling, I do Grecolatin). (Google said it's "Louvre." That still does not work quite well in my brain, but I was close.)

Anyway--OMG SO COOL!

It really is completely unexpected, though, because there were so many boxes in the forms that I couldn't check off - no, I didn't have prior teaching experience, no I didn't have this, no I didn't have that... Perhaps my strong French ability pulled me through? And the fact that I pushed for it, against the odds? Enthusiasm = good?

And don't worry - this journal will be FULL of stuff about France, never fear! :D You guys will be my anglophone (AKA English-speaking) contact while living in a francophone environment. It occurs to me that aside from the kids in class and my family, I'll be living and breathing in French for seven months... Hopefully, this kind of contact will allow me to keep up my English as well! ;)

EXCITE. <3 <3 <3

I've never been to Rouen, but I have spent a month and a bit in Lille, a few hours away, closer to Belgium. So at least I won't have to learn an entirely new dialect of French? ;)

Wow! Congratulations! :DDDD Good thing you kept going with that app! Amazing, so so amazing. You rock. :)

Where will you be in France (or is that determined yet)? As for housing, maybe you could poke around Metafilter or Ask Metafilter--there are always lots of tips to be found there.

Super exciting! :D It looks like I'll be in Rouen, but I could be anywhere in that "academie", or organizational district, not necessarily in the city itself... although I would love that. ;) Apparently it's famous for it's cathedrals? And for being gorgeous? It's also very close to Paris, like, weekend-trip close. :3

There's a website for youths who are studying/working in France temporarily that helps you find accommodation, but I'll keep that recommendation in mind! I can't actually start looking for a place to live until I get my contract, which could be from anywhere between May and early September. THEN I can find a place nearby the school where I'll be working. :)
