Because several other people on my friends list have answered this question, I thought I'd give a crack at it too!
For now, I'd love to live forever. The signature at the end of every e-mail I sent through my hotmail e-mail address are these two quotes:
"I intend to live forever. So far, so good."
~Anonymous
"I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve it through not dying."
~Woody Allen
Both, I think, illustrate how I feel about immortality. Again, so far, so good! I think that it's not necessarily that I want to live forever and ever, you see (I've read enough fantasy stories to know that it doesn't necessarily work out for the best for most people), but mostly that I'm afraid of dying. It's the unknown that scares me.
For now, I have my whole life ahead of me. I want to fall in love (and make love), have children, be a positive influence in the world... For that matter, I want to visit many more places than I already have, revisit others, write and publish at least one novel... I have a huge list of things to do before I die. And I know that that list just grows all the time. I'm too BUSY to have it all just... end.
Maybe when I grow old and wrinkled I'll think differently on things. But for now, immortality has such an appeal. I'm a historian, so sometimes I think, hey, how will this era be viewed in a few hundred years? I want to be around to find that out.
