"I promised that I wouldn't fight."

Okay, so I'm officially a lol!fan of the Dragonball series. For serious.
Now before you lose all respect for me, I have to say that I was initially kind of sort of coerced into seeing the new "Dragonball: Evolution" movie. Okay, that's a lie. A friend asked me, and I said yes. I watched it for the lulz, okay?
And what lulz there were. Right from the get-go, I couldn't stop giggling to myself. The movie begins with a quick overview of the Piccolo - evil alien from space trying to destroy the planet two thousand years ago - backstory. And I started giggling to myself. Also, when Goku and his grandfather are introduced, the grandfather keeps referring to Goku by name, as if to remind us that this white kid is really that super saiyan guy. ;)
Also, the guy who plays Goku is a sweetheart. Spouting cheesy lines, but a good actor, in my opinion. And kind of cute. Especially with the obligatory spiked-up hair.
Master Ryoshi was played by the same guy who played that pirate lord from Singapore in Pirates of the Carribbean. So that was awesome. Especially when he's explaining to Goku about the "Ka-me-ha-me-ha" in such an intent voice. XD
The movie pokes fun at itself, sometimes, like when Goku is caught not paying attention in class (oggling Chi-Chi - hilarious name, BTW, and apparently she exists in canon too), and answers the teacher's question about eclipses with the alien-destroying-the-world-2,000-years-ago backstory, and gets made fun of. XD Also, Goku dealing with bullies after having promised his grandfather not to fight? He doesn't fight - he just dodges, and the guys take themselves out. You have to admit that that was cool.
Also, Goku running after a motercycle with a backpack like ten times his size? Awesome image. So that was all right.
Cheesiness abounds, but it's the good kind of cheesiness that makes you laugh... and gigglesnort... the entire time. So don't buy any pop, because it'll come right back up your nose. (Didn't happen to me, of course, but it did to the guy sitting next to me. ;) )
So yeah. Watch it for the lulz. For serious.
And oh yeah - studying. Right. I'll get right on that. *shifty eyes*
