Okay, so you know that they're the idiom, "History repeats itself"? Well, I've been thinking... Over the last little while, I've been studying (I'm a history major, it happens) history, and I've noticed a trend: people from the North coming down and conquering a previous nation.

Northerners came down and conquered and formed Assyria. The Greeks came from the North and conquered the Greek mainland (among lots of other places). Alexander the Great came from Caledonia, to the north of Greece, and proceeded to conquer... a lot. The Latini conquered the Estruscans to the South and became the Romans. Ghenghis Kahn came down and conquered like... everybody. I'm sure I missed dozens and dozens of more examples.

That got me thinking... is it Canada's turn next...?

(What a stupid thing to say, considering the current political turmoil (Darn you, you unholy triumvate of Liberal-NDP-Bloc-Québecois! D: ). Also, yay for Governor Michaelle-Jean! :D )

Um. In other words, history is eating my brain.

A longer post on recent events in my life is sure to follow when I next get sick of studying.

Me? I don't even know what I am right now. Idealistically, I'm a liberal, leaning towards socialism. But right now, I think that the Conservatives are what's best for Canada. Seriously. Dion is a nice guy, but he doesn't know what he's doing. Plus, he kind of screwed himself over by making a deal with the Bloc Quebecois. Not a good plan. Seriously.

he spoke at the university in Feb 08, I saw him, so good! Incredibly charismatic has a "The USA is going to pwn all as the next big empire so here is how we can make the best of it" kind of philosophy, really good ideas for foreign policy imho. I took notes, must dig them out!

The wiki on him is fair I guess, give you a sort of general idea. :)

The only politician that I've seen in person has been Ed Stelmach. He was at the head table at this one ball my dad dragged me to, back when my dad was base commander. I was at the head table as well, and he was three seats down from me. We spoke like, once, after we were introduced. He asked me about the steak that I was eating, and I said that it was delicious. Then he said something about it being Albertan steak or something, and we both smiled. He really does have a nice smile, and seems like a nice guy... I just don't like his policies.

Especially regarding this new medical superboard instead of individual ones. (Don't fix it if it ain't broken! D: And especially don't replace "fat cats" who actually know what they're doing with people who are paid almost as much but have no experience in the medical field).
