The Battle of Trafalgar Ball! Dad took a few pictures of me all dressed up, a few of which I posted on Deviantart. Here's the links!

I had a great time. I spent an hour and a half at the hairdressers getting sprays and bobby pins and twists and back-comeing done to my hair. The result was cool, though. Let's give a toast to the awesome hairdresser that is Celeste! My hair was so tight I was terribly alert throughout the entire evening.

My dad's driver (yes, he has a driver; a woman, Corporal Neil) picked us up in a minivan (it's the Canadian military people; no limos for us :P ) around 5:30, and we arrived when about half the people had arrived.

I think I was the only minor there (the average age of the attendees was like, 70), so I had to avoid most of the alcohol. I did have four sips of port during the toasts. I didn't particularly like it - it's really strong, and to me tasted like that Buckley's medcine. You know, "Tastes awful, and it works"?

Meh. Food was good, and I mingled with some of the slightly younger people, and a few of the older ones. The only people I really knew before that night were dad and two people from the jazz band that played. Those two were also in the same pit orchestra that I'm in; I was like "Hey, they look vaguely familiar, but from where?" I then waited to see what instruments they picked up, just to be sure. ;)

There was an actor going around pretending to be Admiral Nelson. When asked how his arm and eye grew back (the real - and dead - admiral had lost his left arm and an eye), he replied that rum does wonders. ^_^ He was cool, and gave everyone a round of "grog" after the meal (I didn't have any, but dad said it didn't taste very good). Meh, it's the thought that counts.

People danced to the jazz band, and even though I don't dance, I made a fool of myself out there with dad anyway. :P There was a lady from a small TV station there filming everyone; I hope they didn't catch me in one of my bad moments.

I tried some Earl Grey tea, too, and had a very good rare steak and some salad for dinner. I also called dad "dad" at every available opportunity, so people didn't think that the base commander had a very young mistress.

Overall, it was a simply awesome evening. :D Military functions are very cool. Please check out the pictures I posted! The second one has a bunch of comments written on it, and I swear it's worth the wait for the thing to actually load (stupid high resolution cameras *grumble grumble*).
