Hello, all, from the land across the water! :D I am sincerely sorry for not posting anything as of yet. Unfortunately, this has to be a short post, because I have about ten minutes to write this, and I have to eat at the same time. D: The reason I have not posted just yet is because I haven't gotten the internet in my dorm set up just yet - I'm apparently in the only dorm that does not have wireless, so I need a cord, which I shall get on Monday. I thank you, Yan, for letting me use your laptop! :D (I could just use the computers in the computer lab, but unfortunately they all have French keybords (isn't that bizzare? French keyboards! In France! ;) ) and they're just different enough that it would take ages to painstakingly type out anything. D:
Anyway, I have safely arrived in France. We had two days to wander around Lille, getting a feel for the place, and one day of "welcoming" and placement tests. Today is my first day of classes. I shall give all of the details of my travails thus far in the next post! (Hopefully on Monday). Lille is a gorgeous city, and I have taken hundreds of photos so far. :) I have also met quite a few people (not all of them Canadian, not all of them in my group). Plus, the food here is awesome, and the architecture gorgeous.
This weekend, Yan and I are planning on going to Paris (leaving mid-morning, so we don't have to pay for two nights in Paris, and so we can visit the Saturday morning market in Lille).
Oh, and I have tried to call you several times, mother dearest, but I've only gotten voicemail/answering machines. ;_; It's easiest for me to call when it's early in the morning for you, so is there a time that I can call your cell phone and talk to you in person? Like, between 5:45am and whenever you leave for work, or something? Please, mum, can you post (even anonymously), here, with the times (Edmonton time) that I could call you?
I miss you, everyone! I shall post more in detail as soon as I can!

Date: 2008-06-06 08:30 pm (UTC)Sounds like you're having a lot of fun in France. (You must show me all your pictures when you get back. And it just occured to me you still have Un Lun Dun, lol.)
French keyboards are weird. I don't mind the Canadian French keyboard, but the France French keyobard? AZERTY instead of QWERTY? Too, too weird. XD (I don't suppose you have the option of changing the keyboard while you're on that computer, either...)
Have fun in Paris! :D

Date: 2008-06-07 08:10 am (UTC)Yes, French Keyboards are weird. I'm used to the Canadian French one, but.... yeah, I'm not going to bother to try and figure out the ones in the computer labs. D: Some of the keyboards are quite old, so a bunch of the letters have been worn off... you have no idea how long I spent looking for the "a" key! D:
...And I'm still having fun in France! :D

Date: 2008-06-08 08:19 pm (UTC)I think the "A" key is where our "Q" is on French keyboards? ...
