XDD It is difficult to get Jane stunned wordless, but I think this would do that, for at least an instant or two.
And Jane I'm sure makes very INTERESTING conversation. XD

Not that Laurence was very good at it, but he did try so that they could read the Principia Mathematica together, did they not? Maybe Spanish. Or Italian?
"It's a closely-guarded secret then that Laurence used to be human, and even more that he's Maggie's father." Nobody tends to ask questions about natural-born children in the aerial corps. Few people seem to make inquiries about Emily's father, anyway, so why should Maggie by any different?
"That might be a quick prologue to keep people interested through the bit of exposition necessary to establish setting." Ooh, good plan: start in media res, then go back and explain things. Too much exposition too fast can turn some readers off.
"That might be Jane's joke, that he's blowing smoke and how can a bright yellow dragon expect to be subtle, but... oh dear, the poor man is badly hurt by that, so she soothes him." XD I laughed. LAURENCE YOU MUST ACQUIRE A SENSE OF HUMOUR OR GROW A THICKER SKIN. It will take a long while, I think.
