-Admiral Nelson
That quote is actually relevant with what I have to say today!
I get to go to a military function today with my dad (who's VIP in the Canadian Military), because my mum can't come. It's the Battle of Trafalgar Ball - honouring the 200th aniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, in which Admiral Nelson (who was pretty much THE superstar military officer of the time) died.
I looked up a lot of information on the battle, because I didn't want to look like an idiot tonight ("How about that battle, eh? We won!" :P ). It's an important naval battle, because England had a rousing victory against the Napolianic Franco-Spanish ships (which greatly outnumbered the English ones), and as such England became THE navy of the world, uncontested, until the rise of Imperial Germany over a hundred years later. It's actually rather romantic, Admiral Nelson's line.... *sighs*
Anyway, on to stuff about me! ^_^ I get to go to the ball tonight, and since I had no real appropriate formal wear, last week, mum took me out shopping, and I got a beautiful, 270$ ballgown. Luckily, mum paid for it. It's so pretty! *pets*
I get to get my hair done, and everything, today too. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures of myself, as well. Hopefully I won't make a complete fool of myself.
