Hiya, just a quick comment to announce my presence properly! I’m one of the Scottish girls you met at Japan Expo in Paris - I mostly use lj, so I hope we can somehow stay in touch!
Yay! :D I'm so happy that you got in contact with me! I tried to find you guys through facebook, but did you know that there are like fifteen Rachel Liangs in London? D: Also, I'm very lazy and didn't get around to e-mailing you guys. D: I feel horrible.
How was the rest of your trip? What have you been up to?
ashechan (Eilidh) has also added you, aaand the others are: takuropop (Nia), rachelmei (Rachel) and queenofpuddings (other Eilidh). We all really use lj, I think both Eilidhs and Nia are on Deviantart too. Easy way to stay in touch with journals, no extra effort of emails!
Yay! :D This is awesome. I'm so happy to have found you (or, rather, having had you find me). I shall definitely friend you all! :D
How is the editing of the video coming along? How is the weather in Scotland? Are there any upcoming British cons that you guys are attending?
Next weekend is the Animethon in Edmonton. :3 I'm so excited! It's not nearly as large as the Japan Expo, of course, but considering I actually know a huge chunk of people that are going (at least three or four dozen by name/face), it shall be amazing. :D The cosplay community in the Edmonton Area is pretty tight. :) (You guys should totally come next year!)
It’s really nice in weather right now! All over Britain it’s been roasting hot (actually, not that nice since it’s humid too, and we’re really no used to it!), and occasional torrential, tropical rain. Very weird for us.
We're off to AmeCon next weekend, so everyone's desperately finishing costumes. It's the largest proper anime con in the UK (as in, not an Expo event) so it's a big deal. I need to get things finished up this weekend, since I’m working right now.
Ooh... it sounds like Amecon is simultaneous with the Animethon! :D Sweet. So we shall all be posting photographs and videos online at the same time, won't we?
So where is Amecon being held? For how many days? Any distinguished guests?
Our weather has been strange as well - it alternates between "meh, kind of cloudly, kind of rainy" to roasting hot. D: Not fun.
Today, I get to go to Heritage Days with a few friends of mine. :) It's a festival that essentially shows off different world cultures. It shall be interesting, as I've never been before. ^_^
That Heritage Days festical sounds like it could be very interesting! (also, damn you for getting the Twlight film waaaay before us >_>)
Ame (a very British con name) is 3 days at Leicester University campus. It's been in the same place the last 2 years, so we know it well - there’s several nice photo locations, and the accommodation is mostly on-site - really convenient!
I had no idea who the guests were until I looked it up, I’m not usually that interested in them! Seems it’s voice actress Kari Wahlgren (who voices Anemone from Eureka Seven, who I‘ll be cosplaying!), Akemi Solloway (who's a lovely Japanese lady, does cultural demonstrations - kimono workshops etc.) , and the band Gothika.
Nice that we’ve both got big cons at the same time, it’ll be fun seeing your photos of a different con!
I just got back from Heritage Days; it was very fun. There was lots of good food. The "England" stall was pretty funny, too - essentially, they sold cornish pasties, sausage rolls, tea and biscuits. ;) Still, the ladies running it were very nice.
There was a lot of food, lots of nice people, music... and I was actually hit on by an Algerian man... who managed not to be creepy. D:
Ha! "Ame" - I just got it. XD Very nice. Is it very large? Tell me when you post photographs! :D I'm intrigued! I shall also tell you when I get my photos up. I'll probably post them a day or two after the festival is over.
Akemi Solloway sounds pretty cool. We don't really have many clothing stalls - well, we did have one Lolita one, but she went out of business last year. ;_; Plus, she was a white Canadian. Something about authentic Japanese people just make them automatically that much cooler than us. ;)
