In a continuing effort to procrastinate on my homework (my thesis draft is staring as balefully as a pile of papers can at me from the corner of my desk), and, encouraged by the AWESOMENESS of everyone who seems to read this journal and their participation in that let-me-tell-you-a-history-story meme I held a few days ago... (People can still post prompts, by the way! It is by no means closed! You may even post a second prompt if you wish!) I've decided to participate in another meme that's been making the rounds of my f-list...

Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

Upon request, I will post a random line or two from any of these you choose. Assuming that the file adds up to a full line, that is.

I'm not sure if very many people know, but I do write quite a bit of random bits and pieces of fanfic. My problem is that they're generally just snippets of scenes and dialogue at best... although I have a LOT of sometimes incredibly long outlines. So my WIP folder is actually quite large. My problem is that they always seem to STAY as WIPs, and never, well, progress to completion. In any case, I will post bits (or even more than bits!) for those curious.

On a completely separate note, I'm also planning on making a picture post to go with all of the responses to the history meme, possibly tomorrow or maybe later today. You shall get a historical image to go along with the story, so that you can put names to faces! :)

Anyway, here is the list of documents in my bulky "My fanfic" folder... Some of the titles you may recognize from pieces I have posted before, but others, not so much... I also tend to have rather descriptive titles (some with fandoms, some mysteriously without!), so hopefully some will strike your fancy! Feel free to request up to three at a time. :)

beboots: (Harry Potter Face)
Classes have begun! Already, my workload is crazy. My thesis should be getting written. I've kept up with my readings - so far - but then again, it's only been three days. My classes seem super-interesting, at the very least, so hopefully it won't be too difficult or onerous to keep up. :)

In the meantime, I've been finding solace in actually writing fanfic again. I'm sure that many people who know me through various fandoms may have picked up on the fact that I love alternate universes (no, not "high school" or "all human" AUs, but awesome ones), especially crossovers and time travel fics. There may be some of you who may recall my most prominent fandom works, Alchemy's Child (a Fullmetal Alchemist crossover with Harry Potter) and Rise of the Jinchuuriki (A Naruto!verse fic in which both Naruto and Gaara go back in time and race to become the leaders of their respective villages once more). Well, this fic that I've been working on has elements from both.

It can be roughly summarized thusly:

"Draco may be an arrogant, selfish little git, but even he has principles. When Voldemort kills his parents, well, he’s going to do something about it. Timetravel fic."

Essentially, Draco goes back in time to make sure that the Dark Lord doesn't win again. Or come back in the first place. He's only twenty-three or so when he does this, but he's already pretty world-weary. Mostly he's just tired of killing muggles, although he has a healthy dose of PTSD from his time as a Death Eater as well. One thing to note: he's not doing this because he had suddenly developed a great love for muggles and mudbloods. No, this Draco is still pretty racist. He still believes in the pureblood cause; he just dislikes Voldemort's methods. Of course, this outlook on life will change over the course of the fic, slowly, with many fits and starts.
I also want to combat certain fandom trends that I'm not too fond of, the least of which is the fandom!Draco who comes to love soap operas and microwaves and other such things immediately upon being introduced to them. This Draco still isn't entirely sure that being a mudblood isn't contagious, and so many of his reactions to muggle things are still going to involve some uneasiness. (And no, it won't be the other extreme of "WHAT THERE ARE PEOPLE TRAPPED IN THAT TALKING BOX??" reaction to televisions or something.)

I also want to play off of the idea that people who return to the past have a completely perfect memory of what happened before. Um, no. Can you remember what you did when you were ten, over a decade later? Down to the exact dialogue and what you had for breakfast? Neither can Draco. My Draco is very much an unreliable narrator, too: keep that in mind, because it will come up, again and again.

Also, things will change. Plot-type things. One of my pet peeves is when people write crossovers or time travel fics and just have the same things happen in the same order, perhaps for slightly different reasons or with another person speaking. Not so! Draco will change things, sometimes in ways that surprise even him. Make a few changes, and events will cascade differently, in interesting and sometimes unexpected ways. :3

So far, I have over thirty pages of it written; three completed chapters and lots of other scenes. My planning page, including a lot of back and forth ideas I've thrown around with a few beta-readers, is about the same length. I want to do a LOT more planning before I think of posting the first chapter. I've already rewrote quite a bit since I first wrote it. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] feral_shrew  and [livejournal.com profile] kuiskata for letting me bounce ideas off of you two! :) I think that once I finish up to the summer after first year, then I'll start posting: then I should be safe from the urge to go back and make too many changes. ;) I suspect that I'll be writing a lot to avoid working on homework. Besides, with even more snow falling outside, and the mercury in the thermometer dropping right along with it, I don't think that I'll be up for going for long jogs or anything. It's weather that tells you to stay inside, make some tea, wrap yourself in a blanket and get some reading or writing done.

Anyway, I'm quite proud of what I have written so far, so I thought that I would post a little preview so that interested parties may be able to get a feel for the flavour of this Draco.

Draco's father reacts, passive-aggressively, to his son speaking to a mudblood in public, and Draco gets his first wand for the second time. )

I've noticed that many other people have been making fanfiction recommendations recently, which I greatly appreciate. :) I thought that I would thus return the favour and rec a few to make you smile and get the new year off to a good start. :) Some of these are very recent; others have been favourites of mine for years. A mixed bag so there will be something for everyone. :)

Furthermore, in the spirit of good cheer and well-wishing, if anybody wants more recommendations of any fandom, feel free to comment and I'll see what I can dig up for you from my brain and/or Delicious archive. :) (Also, huzzah for the rumours of Delicious' demise being greatly exaggerated?)

Counting the Hours by Forthright
Fandom: Inuyasha
Summary: "When Inuyasha calls in a favor, Kagome sacrifices her holiday in order to help him fulfill an annual familial obligation. Missed flights, misunderstandings, and mistletoe conspire to bring two strangers together."
This fic is absolutely lovely. Anything by this author is, but this fic makes me smile. Realistic fluff. The first chapter was posted over Christmas last year; the second chapter picks up where the last one left off, only covers the week afterwards, and was posted only a few days ago. The author intends to make this an annual thing, and I don't know whether or not to glee or be dismayed at having to wait a whole other year for an update... Of her other fics, I particularly love Unspoiled for sending Kagome to a past in which she encounters a very young and adorable Sesshoumaru. But really, if you love the series, read all of Forthright's works.

This Kid I Once Knew by Minnow
Fandom: Calvin & Hobbes
Summary: "Daniel sends their whole improv group an e-mail saying "check this out its fun1!1" and a link to a web comic called The Adventures of Spaceman Spiff."
If you loved Calvin & Hobbes when you were younger like me (and still love it, again, like me), you will love this fic. :) And possibly The Roommate of +10 Confusion, a Calvin & Hobbes crossover with Foxtrot, in which Calvin and Jason become roommates and awesomeness occurs. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] beckyh2112  for pointing these my way.
Oh, and speaking of Calvin & Hobbes, this should make you smile (especially, but not necessarily, if you're a history dork like me): "Few historians know of the heartwarming friendship between French Reformation theologian John Calvin and English political philosopher Thomas Hobbes, the latter of whom may or may not have been real, considering he was not even born yet."

Strange Girl by Sunfreak
Fandom: Spirited Away
Summary: "She's a strange girl. They all say it. She talks to rivers and trees and animals and won't dissect the frogs in science class. And she always wears that same silly hair tie, no matter how she does her hair."
Oh come on, when you saw that movie don't tell me you weren't aching for Chihiro to meet Kohaku again, weren't you? ;_;

Flying Again by esama
Fandom: Harry Potter AND Temeraire. Crossovers = <3
Summary: "Harry learns languages and philosophy and mathematics and misses something important, while elsewhere Charlie thinks of pearls and foolish dreams and is unable to find the right dragon."
A story told in (adorable and touching) drabbles, in which William Laurence is reincarnated as Charlie Weasley, and Temeraire as Harry Potter. Give it a chance, if you love Temeraire. Also, dragons.

The Kids Aren't All Right by Christine Everhart(?)
Fandom: Iron Man, movie!verse
Summary: “It’s been ‘a hell of a year’ since industrialist Tony Stark owned up to his alter ego in a move that stunned observers and longtime aides alike. With the US facing unprecedented homegrown suicide attacks, Iron Man’s contribution to national security is more than ever under scrutiny. As she follows Stark during a year of crisis, exclusively for Vanity Fair, Christine Everhart explores the many contradictions of the man behind the mask, uncovers tales of personal loyalty, patriotism gone awry and corporate betrayal, and asks whether Iron Man is the embodiment of an outdated American fantasy—a self-made, unilateral, technological solution to hopelessly complex problems—and whether he can survive the violent encounter with reality.”
...AKA someone actually wrote that article that the reporter chick was working on throughout the movie. You know the one, she who slept with Tony at the beginning of the movie, provided exposition throughout, and prompted him during That Press Conference to actually confess who he was. This fic has an amazing voice and really could be a part of official canon. It's amazing. Also, has pictures, like a real magazine article would!
This one is probably on my list of the top 10 most amazing fanfics of all time. This is the fic I point to/explain when someone asks me what the point of fanfiction is.

The Cold We Hate by VioletzeEcoFreak
Fandom: Hetalia
Summary: "The North American Ice Storm of 1998, an indisputable example of the cold Canadians and Americans alike loathe."
America and England help Canada through a rough patch. I have a weakness for hurt-comfort fic. Also, Canadiana. This fic is particularly appropriate at this time of the year.

The Care and Feeding of Hobbits by Baylor
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Summary: "Ruminations on the Little People by Boromir, Man of Gondor."
An oldie but goody. Lord of the Rings was one of my first fandoms, way back in junior high. This one is still one of my favourites, and holds a special place in my heart. Fluff, but believable fluff, with hobbit cultural tidbits and not-a-bastard!Boromir. :)

I saw The King's Speech a few days ago with my Mother dearest, and I have to say that it was one of the most uplifting movies I've seen in a long time. It was funny, engaging, entertaining, intelligent... I especially loved the swearing scene, nearly cried at the scene where Bertie actually began to talk about his childhood and could barely get it out, and gleed when the speech therapist's wife came home early and found the Queen of England sitting down for tea in their tiny little flat... as well as dozens of other beautifully done scenes. :) Amazingly well done film. Even the trailer makes you feel awesome, watching it:

And as for tomorrow... I'm going to post those postcards and letters, apply for jobs, and actually work on my thesis. I promise. >_>

... Incidentally, I wrote my translation exam this morning. Despite my nervousness, my day wasn't made terrible by that exam, which went rather well! The 60 multiple choice/true or false/fill in the blanks ended up being harder than expected, but the essay question and ad analysis weren't anywhere near as difficult as anticipated! Anyway, we got a huge dump of snow yesterday and last night, so the roads were terrible, but I left at like 7am for my 9am exam and managed to make it with plenty of time to procrastinate studying. ;)

Anyway, I got home, studied a bit for the women's history exam I have tomorrow afternoon, then watched an episode of the Walking Dead, comfortable that my day was going well.

Then I got a message from [livejournal.com profile] avocado_love . Normally I love getting messages from one of my favourite fanfic authors and all-around awesome person, but today she was helpfully giving me a heads-up that one of my favourite web tools in the whole wide world, which I used innumerable times each day to collect and organize and retrieve the huge numbers of websites I visit, Delicious.com, is going to cease to exist. ;_;

Cue panic moment. Take a moment to take in the glory that is my Delicious account, nay, archive. As of writing this (and probably not much longer), I have 9,529 bookmarks, with 1918 tags. I've been using it since May 2008, and I have ceased to use "regular" bookmarks. I have no idea how to survive without tags anymore.

Here is the link that Avocado sent to me, the news article that ruined my day

Here is a list of ways to backup your Delicious bookmarks (I've done so already, and so should you).

Here is a list of 10 alternatives to Delicious. I was debating between Diigo and Pinboard, and was favouring the latter for its close similarity to Delicious (apparently it was created by people who formerly worked for Delicious back when it was loved?), but it's a paid feature and I am a poor starving student. At the moment, I've created a Diigo account and I've imported my delicious bookmarks. We'll see how it works. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Visit me on Diigo here if you want to keep following my movements on the internet (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, MY STALKER FRIENDS...)

In conclusion: I'm sorry, Yahoo!, but I will never look at your excitable logo the same way ever again. I am overcome by an uncontrollable fury. If I had a yahoo e-mail account I would stop using it immediately. You have forever lost my business; if I can any way help it, I will avoid your company and its affiliates as much as possible. >:(

EDIT: I have also managed to sync my Delicious account with my Diigo account, so theoretically I can keep playing with Diigo while continuing to update my Delicious. Delicious could still be with us for months, I suppose, or it could disappear next week (just in time for Christmas! :P ), so I'm keeping my fingers in as many pies as possible.

Title: Child on the Dragon Throne - Part III
Previous Parts: Teaser, Part One, Part Two.
Summary: Iroh does not take kindly to Ozai humiliating, maiming and banishing a nephew he cares for. Now, with Ozai dead and Iroh himself banished for committing an act of regicide, the newly crowned
Fire Lord Zuko does not know who he can trust.
Note: I made every attempt to write a fight scene... and decided not to inflict the results upon any readers who happen across it. I much prefer cultural and political ramifications of things, in any case. :P The way I wrote Iroh fighting didn't do him justice; I made him sound like an angry teakettle, mostly. In this entry, well, he at least gets another moniker to add to his list...

Author’s Note: in my defence, I didn’t post this sooner because I worked on pretty much all of the other instalments of this fic except for the one immediately following the previous one, chronologically. Thus, updates should come more quickly after this?

I would also be greatly appreciative of any constructive criticism you all have to offer. :)

As promised here, I have written more of this! Now, you shall have answers! Also, Ozai being derisive (and seriously underestimating his brother), which is a bad idea for Ozai, as you can imagine, as this fic also includes much awesome!Iroh. Yes. :3

So... [livejournal.com profile] attackfish  and my sister dearest, through the power of their combined Bambi eyes, have finally convinced me to actually WRITE something. Fanfic, in fact.

I dug through many of my old fic ideas, and selected this one.

I have about 1,500 words of it written out as of the time of this posting, and I will surely write more. I'm determined to finish this fic at some point before I leave for Ireland & Scotland in the last week of May.

But for now, here's a teaser-drabble!

Cut for lil' Fire Lord Zuko who has yet to grow a spine )
beboots: (Default)
Haha, so my jobless state has allowed me to at least have some more time for writing down ideas? My dad suggested that I write a novel this summer, and I may yet do so. I could consider my Ireland-Scotland trip as a research expedition, perhaps? Anyway, I have a few ideas that I'm hammering out in my head at the moment.

I may even actually get around to writing proper fanfic, and not just random ideas. But FOR NOW, here is another Alternate Universe that shamelessly plays up my need for Zuko dressed in fancy dresses  robes, protective!Mai, perhaps-not-COMPLETELY-evil!Azula, and awesomesauce!Iroh. :)

Cut for child rulers coming into their own. )

Yet another fanfic idea! This time, I was inspired for my love of platonic Toph-Zuko awesomeness, as well as alternate universes. A what-if story - what if Toph was adopted by Iroh at a relatively young age?

Childhood Friends
Toph in the Fire Nation )
beboots: (Default)

MOAR fic ideas! (I've been writing these over the past few months, and they're getting nowhere, so why not share what I have written down? Feel free to adopt, if you wish!)

If I were to write an [livejournal.com profile] avatarbigbang fic, this would have been it. Sadly, I have a 6,000 word paper to write, along with two other 3,000 word papers, a lot of readings and research, and final exams in early April to study for. :( Also, no inspiration for actual hard text. Point form, though... that I can write.

Summary: What if the Blue Spirit had not been knocked unconscious by an arrow to the head as he helped Aang escape from the Pohuai stronghold – and Aang takes him back to the cave, identity intact? Zuko learns to see the Avatar and his posse as human beings – who are actually NICE to him – and can no longer bring himself to hunt the Avatar. Cue the Blue Spirit emerging out of the woodwork to help the Gaang whenever they’re in need.

Behind this cut hides the Blue Spirit... )
beboots: (avatar)

Another fic idea ahoy!

This fic idea is mostly because I wanted to play around with the idea of politics, and a Zuko who is actually a competent Crown Prince. Not to mention having Iroh and political shenanigans... and an Iroh who never truly gave up being the Dragon of the West, but who still retains a protective soft spot for a certain nephew... Essentially, all of the elements of fanfic that make me glee - I just wanted them all in one. Let's see if it came together in a coherent manner...

Cut for the story of how Iroh became Fire Lord... )
beboots: (avatar)

So I have been writing down a lot of fanfiction ideas lately (mostly while procrastinating, avoiding working on homework...), and I figure that I should probably post them here, for your enjoyment. Avatar: the Last Airbender has been on my brain lately. To give credit where credit is due, I drew my initial inspiration from several fills of  [livejournal.com profile] suzukiblu 's mythological mini-meme, which was written a while back. I took a few ideas and ran with them - mostly the idea of dragon!Zuko and being able to switch between dragon and human forms by taking off one's skin (à la Selkie).

I should warn you guys that I write down my fic ideas in a sort of pseudo-prompt form, pseudo-stream of consciousness... which sometimes dips into actual text and dialogue. I apologize for any formatting confusion that results.

I'll probably post a few other ideas in similar formats over the next few weeks. Livejournal is useful as a back-up archive. ;)

Enjoy!

As promised in my previous post, here is the alternate universe temeraire fic idea that I had. Title is coincidentally the same as that of a recent shoot'em up game, but... yeah. Unintentional. :)

Also, on another note, I managed to lose a file with a bunch of stuff (quotes and avatars, mostly) that I was going to show to my sister upon her return from Japan. D: Can anyone find me a copy of that avatar that says something to the effect of "Hogwarts is so last year. I'm enlisting in Star Fleet"?

OKAY SO I'M TOTALLY DONE ALL OF MY EXAMS NOW. *rejoice*

So I knew that I was completely and utterly done school today, when I went to the washroom after my exam and was staring at this poster on the wall while waiting in line. It was an advertisement that encouraged people to use "refillable pens and pencils". And then I thought to myself: "hey, if you remove the 'c' and the 'l' from 'pencils', you get..." XD

So yeah, my brain is dribbling out of my ears. I can think stupid. AND IT IS GLORIOUS.

Also, pretend that that "pencils" observation never happened.

Bill Bryson, "The Mother Tongue: English and how it got that way"

So I've finally, finally, finally, gotten off my butt and actually written something. Well, completed something. I've probably written like 70,000 words (only a slight exaggeration) of fanfic this past year, but none of it completed. It's all sitting on my harddrive, gathering dust, only occasionally seeing the light of day when I get a burst of inspiration to write a hundred words or so. Maybe.

Until today.

Yes, it is short - a bare 1,075 words. But it is complete.

It's also from my new favourite fandom, Temeraire! :D This fic actually begged to be written. The fandom has made me love Laurence/Granby (and Laurence/Tharkay... and Laurence/Riley... and Laurence/Granby/Tharkay), but when I read the books, I honestly loved the dynamic between Laurence and Jane. Yes, I know that it's het. But it's adorable.

 So here goes:

Aviators and Naval officers do frequent some of the same circles, and cross paths more often than you’d expect. Great Britain, despite what its people want you to think, is still a small country. Jane/Laurence )

I am a total sheep. Yay for memes!

Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!

Oh god I have a lot of WIPs... Many of which may never again see the light of day. This is only a selection, because I can't be bothered to go through so many files. ;)

A Narnia/Harry Potter crossover, mostly an excuse to write about Mr. Tumnus:
Lucy Pevensie had never been entirely clear with him about the name of the place that she had come from, and had thrown around names like “War Droab,” “Spare Oom”, “Aarth” and “Ingle-land” almost interchangeably.

From that Twilight/House, M.D. crossover that I'm still determined to finish:
However, if the turnover rate was slightly higher at this particular teaching hospital than was the national average, perhaps (although few would admit it) it had something to do with “stress due to gimpy diagnosticians.”

A Good Omens/Harry Potter crossover that I've written two chapters of, in which Remus Lupin becomes friends with Aziraphale in a roundabout way. This is from the scene in which they meet:
An unconscious young man on the floor was a good enough reason as any to close up shop early.

From a Temeraire fic which is essentially a tell-all autobiography written by the dragon Temeraire. Quote is from Temeraire's narration of his hatching:
Laurence tells me that I am biased, but I truly believe that he was the most handsome and agreeable man of the lot.

A totally-not-crack-but-really-should-be Temeraire fic in which Laurence dies but comes back as a Flamme-de-Gloire (yes, a dragon) and makes his way back to England:
“I realize the ridiculousness in this statement, but I really am William Laurence,” The dragonet replied.

The Blue and Yellow Staircase by ~Beboots on deviantART

So, I'm pretty busy at the moment, mostly studying. And frantically writing essays: a French one on La Moustache (see previous post for its craziness), a Canadian History research paper on the Quiet Revolution in Quebec (that's when they first started getting all... seperatist-y) and a Habsburg History paper on Maria Theresia and two of her sons, Joseph II and Leopold II (and how Enlightened/Absolutist they were).

So far, I'm not panicking. Not yet. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

I'm also writing some fanfiction. I'm still working on that House, M.D./Twilight crossover from hell, admittedly very slowly, but then again, I'm determined to finish it, so... yeah. I've written down a few ideas, in point-form, for Temeraire fics, and I really want to write a few of them... mostly because that fandom isn't nearly big enough, yet. I am also working on a Good Omens crossover with Harry Potter, essentially in which Remus Lupin and Aziraphale become friends. Yes, I know that it's been done before, but not in a multi-chaptered fic. >:3 I've written the first two chapters, and a smattering of other scenes, but I want to finish this fic (and the other crossover, mentioned above) before posting anything. That way, I won't abandon my readers halfway, like I have with Rise of the Jinchuuriki.

Which I am finishing, by the way. Or at least continuing. I have like 20,000 words more of it written. Just not... in order. D: It shall get done as well!

... as soon as I'm finished my three papers. Hopefully.

So... I suppose I had better bring this journal up to speed with what I've been up to lately. I've been hiding under a rock because of exams, but they've been over for just a week, so I can finally breathe again. I was intending on working a couple extra shifts (for the extra money), but I've been feeling burnt out, so... yeah. Not that fussed about spending more time at Superstore.

Regardless, I think that my hard work has payed off. I've gotten all but one of my marks back (and I'm thinking that if the final mark  hasn't come in by today, Christmas, it probably won't be in for a while. I certainly hope that they don't have people working on marking these things on Christmas day. D: ). I actually got an A plus (my first) in Art History, an A in French translation, an A- in Japanese 201, and a B plus in History of the Tudor Regime. I'm a bit sad about the last one (it's the first time my marks have drifted below A-), but I really can't complain, because it was a 300 level class, and, well, I'll just sound arrogant if I'm all like "GOD I'm such a HORRIBLE student! Actually GETTING A B  of ALL THINGS THEREFORE I FAIL AT LIFE!!!"

Um. Anyway... I went for a walk in the woods to the north of St. Albert yesterday with my brother and father, despite it being about -25 degrees celcius out. For those non-canadians reading this: it wasn't that bad. Layers are the key to keeping warm. I had underwear, obviously, plus leggings and a t-shirt, plus a thin turtleneck, plus a sweater, plus a winter coat, plus a thick scarf, gloves, and toque. Oh, and nice winter boots. We were going to go snowshoeing, but the snow wasn't deep enough, so we just walked. We didn't see any animals, but we did see loads of tracks: beyond just boring ones like rabbits and squirrels, we identified deer, martin, coyote and moose. Speaking of moose, we also saw a few places where they would have bedded down for the evening, just off of the beaten path (human beaten path). So that was cool. Yay for the Canadian wilderness! :D

I've been working on writing as well. Not on finishing my Nanowrimo novel, unfortunately. I love my characters to bits, but I've grown sick of my plot (or lack thereof). Plus, I can't find the motivation to pick it up again, as it's no longer November. Meh. I'll probably take a look sometime and take a red pen to it.... probably rewrite half of the scenes, inject more plot, etc.

Regarding fanfiction... )

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!
beboots: (Default)

Jiraiya, from Buni-san's fic "Aniki" (which I beta read... that's actually a sneak preview quote from the next chapter SHH DON'T TELL ANYONE)

I felt that that was an appropriate quote, considering the subject of this post. I read this really good fic a few days ago (well, I finished it late last night, as I pretty much spent a huge chunk of two evenings reading this thing), and I felt the need to do a fanfic reccomendation post. I'm going to do this differently than I normally do; I'm not going to focus on one fandom, but I'm going to list what I consider the "best of the best" in some of my favourite fandoms. That way, people can see what I like... and I can push my favourite fics on everyone. ;3

Keep in mind, these are just my personal top favourites. This doesn't mean that I don't love a huge librairy of fanfic other than the ones listed here, too.  If you want to check out more of what I read, go to my delicious, found here: http://delicious.com/Beboots That site is so helpful for organizing my favourites! Best of all, it makes me feel less paranoid, as everything is stored online, and not on my laptop, which is potentially vulnerable to crashing.

Anyway, in no particular order (except the first, which is the fic that I mentioned above), here are the fics that I consider the most in-character, amazing and squee-worthy fics ever... )

Oh, and everyone, feel free to contest my choices by providing links to superior fanfiction! :D
